Back to School Time

Well we have less than two weeks left with Hannah at home.  We've enjoyed every moment.  Soon it will be time to pack up.  Meanwhile, I'm still working on things for my etsy shop Ellie Marie Designs.  My goal is to make enough money to buy textbooks for Gabriel and Hannah.  I'm about half way there for the fall semester. Right now I'm working on an altered composition book like the one pictured above.  Great for a back to school item!

Traffic Light

John came home yesterday and told me, "I need you and Holly to help me get something out of my car."  It was a traffic light of all things!  I had no idea how big those things are.  And I have no idea what we are going to do with it.  It would be great in a large basement game room - which we don't have.  Perhaps I'll sell it on ebay for X amount of dollars plus $100 shipping.  :)  I'm sure I'll think of something.  Meanwhile, next time you're at a traffic light, think of what you would do with one at your house.

Trail Guide to World Geography - A Review

My baby girl is entering high school this fall and I couldn't be more sad and more excited at the same time.  Sad because she is growing up much too quickly.  Excited because I love the things I learned together with Gabriel and Hannah and I'm looking forward to learning more with Holly.  One of my favorite subjects that we did with Gabe and Hannah was the Trail Guide to World Geography.  They enjoyed it too! They each made a notebook with a map of each continent, studied a plethora of geography terms and information, looked for current events in the newspaper, made an illustrated geography dictionary and so much more.  There is so much in the book, you'll never get to it all in one year.  Thankfully it's neatly divided into elementary, middle school and high school. Gabriel and Hannah are now juniors in college but I still have their geography notebooks.  Holly and I have been perusing them and getting excited about our studies this fall.
